and won a place to study a Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in music
production and development at the University of Westminster, where she
graduated in 2005. Sara produced work in a range of mediums choosing
photography as the first of her professional endeavours for its ability to
create an instant bond between the artist and the outside world.
Shamsavari's work has been
exhibited in galleries and public spaces in London, Paris, New York and Hong
Kong including the Institute of Contemporary Art, London City Hall, Her work,
exhibitions and profile have featured across various media and publications
including BBC.
Sara Shamsavari has exhibited
numerous times showcasing her work in this area. “London Veil” was one such exhibition,
which was part of the Southbank’s Women of the world (WOW) Festival. London
Veil seeks to give prominence to young Muslim by documenting and celebrating
the expression of their individual identities through the documentation of
their self-styled hijab. The series both illustrates and is inspired by the
influence of our perceived restriction, limitations and challenges. Those
forces encourage originality, adaption and in turn transform cultural
expression into objects of beauty.”
This portrait is a mixture of posed and natural.
The lighting is used very effectively as it highlights the woman’s expression
of excitement, pleasure and pride. The
photographer uses the bold black plain colour of the hijab to provide depth and
contrast to the background, which is a vibrant and bright as it highlights the
cheerful feeling the portrait suggests. The image comes across as being very
seasonal as it uses the warm tones not only in the colours chosen but the
makeup. Almost an Autumn feel. The hijab is worn on the woman’s head in an
overdone and extravagant way which shows confidence. London

First Response of Sara Shamsavari
First Response of Sara Shamsavari
I really like this image because she trying to show the audience that she having fun and not being too serious. But this image doesn't looks like Sara Shamsavari because her style is simple, happy and zoom in on faces.
She is looking down to make it look natural and she's smiling to make the audience smile aswell. Her hijab (scarf) is very colourful and bright. It's really interesting.
I don't like this image because I can see the background with lines and it's very distracting so i could improve this image to get nice and bright background such as orange or green or red.
I really like this image because it's bright, colourful and simple. But this image shows me it's not about peaceful, she looking at the flag which doesn't make sense. So for the improvements, I will try to make the image to make sense and to make to look peaceful.
I really like this image but it's not bright enough and fun enough. This images is vibrant, colourful and friendly. She trying to show the audience her religion is fun and not really terrorist. For the improvements, i could do it outside nature because it's like a environment friendly and it's bright.
Second Response of Sara Shamsavari
She is looking towards us because she makes us feel she's very happy because she's being Muslim. The background is very distracting because people don't like wall of bricks. But I really like it. This image is poss and very fun, colourful image.
In this image, her scarf is very detailed in it and Arabian style. This image is very natural. It's simple, light and cool.
She is looking towards us as a natural.
I really like this image because her lipstick is match with her hijab. And also i really like the layers on the hijab.
This image is posed. She is trying to make us smile and make us thinks being Muslim doesn't mean you are terrorist. It means peace and fun. Mostly important is that believing in one god Allah and and Muhammed is his messager.
This image is posed. I don't like this image because I can see her hands is moving and it's blurry. For the improvements, I would make it better by using high shutter speed.
She is very happy and this image is posed.
I really like this image because this image is natural. I use this location as the background because it's looks peace. But I was told that they don't like the background but this photographer did only natural images and also this is natural image. I really like this image because of her hijab and it's got layers on it.
This image is posed. She is wearing colour bracelet and wearing black top. I find this image happy, fun and natural.
This photograph is posed. The texture in this photograph is achieved
through the use of material of the hijab which is light see through chiffon
which gives a playful feel. Also there is the texture in the background. The
difference of colour and depth makes you want to touch the background. The use
of the bold dynamic jewellery adds a modern twist.
I really like this image because it's natural. This image shows me she's having fun of being Muslim and trying to make audience thinks Muslim is in peaceful way.
These two women looking towards us and they are happy. But I don't like this image because of the background. It's very distracting. How can i improve it? I can do different locations such as studio or in public.
And again this image is very distracting because of the background. But I really like these two woman posed and wearing bright paint nails and wearing bright colourful bracelet.
This image is posed. They looking towards us and they wearing black top. People find this image boring because of the black top. But they are trying to stop men looking them so they wearing black top. So it keeping stop attention from them.
Third Response of Sara Shamsavari
All these images are brilliant because it's very bright and colourful. I had taken images of women then I have did edited on the Photoshop to change the background. And make it into brightness/contrast to make it strong and bright. I think all these images is vibrant, energetic and fun. And also these images are exactly same style as this photographer Sara Shamsavari.
